Christmas in July Part 3

Hi friends – well on this last day of July we are going to wrap up Christmas from 2018. Following Christmas day Danny and I decided to use his hockey tournament right outside of DC as an excuse to have a little staycation. My inlaws took our pup and we booked a hotel for a few days. 2018 had been a good but hard year. We had struggled with completely unexpected changes with Danny’s health, setbacks with both our infertility journey and adoption plans, career frustrations, and found ourselves feeling a little down that the holiday was not what we had pictured. But our blessings were still many – so we choose to celebrate a few: time together, living so close to DC, having the week off of work to enjoy and the chance to escape, even just for a bit!

But first we had the Flaherty Christmas to stop by on the 27th which was also my mom’s birthday! As with most Flaherty family gatherings it was full, fast and fun – but not much time for pictures! At least the Heppes’ girl gang grabbed a few to celebrate our Mama!

Then it was onto DC for some street strolling, attraction hopping, coffee sipping, restaurant enjoying, and hotel lounging when we weren’t in the throws of hockey.

Our little vaca was only a few days, but exactly the recharge we needed following the holidays and to remind ourselves that whatever 2019 would hold – we would navigate it together. And that together is actually a lot of fun…. the exact reason to have hope.

Thank you so much for reading and remember to make it a great day!
Jackie
