Hello friends – Hope you are enjoying this lovely fall week! We are well into the cool weather and pumpkin season around here ….. it has been just lovely. I am not sure there are much more beautiful sights then Virginia in the fall!
We have a few weekend wrap ups to capture – but since so many of them involve resting and downtime that looks a lot like this…..

I have opted to just share the highlights.
Let’s start with my kooky boss! He is this really nice guy…. a bunch of kids… just recently became a grandpa – and I think it has affected his brain a little bit – he wore two different shoes to the office! But can we blame him – it was a Friday after all! As you all may know, my boss is my Dad….. so when he made this little fashion faux discovery, he had to share!

That weekend Danny and I were invited to meet our friends’ Atheni and Kyle’s twins! This favorite family of four lives in DC, so our Saturday morning coffee and donut visit was made extra special by taking a jaunt into the city. As you have heard many times before – Atheni and I are very good friends from my high school days and she and Danny were good friends before Danny and I were ever a couple…. prom dates even!! She married the love of her life – Kyle – a sweet guy she met in college who we all have come to be pretty fond of! So to then meet their little kiddos – Teddy and Roma – we were honored. Life is so funny – and I guess we really are all grown up!

Since we were already down in the district, we decided to head over to Arlington Cemetery. My grandfather, who I was very close to, is buried there and somehow in all these years Danny has never visited with me. We lost my grandfather in the summer of 2002 and to honor his service in the Navy – he is buried in this sacred place, truly the home of the brave. When you have family buried there, you are provided a pass to drive right up to where your loved one rests. Over the last 14 years this would be the place I would come to find a reset, find the strength my grandfather was so sure I possessed, and most importantly – to remember the angel I have on my side.

Arlington Cemetery is a very unique place to visit. Witnessing all the people who have given their lives to this country, amongst this serene setting that overlooks our great Nation’s Capital is incredible.

As the cooler temperatures hit we are craving all sorts of comfort food around here and that weekend ended with one of our favorites- Danny’s pasta with sausage and peppers!

The following weekend was focused on one main attraction – Bridget being home for fall break!!

September 2016
There was family time throughout the weekend – but some of our favorites was Lola and Quinlan getting better acquainted. As my mom would talk to Lola saying “hi baby” just like she used to do with Quinlan – he would try and get into her line of sight by laying with Lola. I think someone is still getting used to his role as second fiddle!

That gets us to this past weekend. Danny has been feeling a little slow and Quinlan and I were feeling the need to be lazy…… so a lot of the weekend looked like this….

October 2016
We mixed in some reading, a movie date and a few errands to at least accomplish something.

Best of all was welcoming fall – with a few perfectly scented candles and Mix and Match Mamas Pumpkin Bundt Cake! Thank you to Libby for my new cookbook – it helped us welcome Fall into the Bessette home!
