These are a Few of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post!  Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions to health tricks. Really anything that I feel we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!

This time of year there is one favorite of mine that I just can’t get enough of – the movie “You’ve Got Mail”! Yes I know the 90s called and they want their movie back – but there is no better film for loving all things fall!! This romantic comedy is the love story of email pen pals set in New York City. It opens at the start of fall and the main characters go into great detail as to why they love autumn time in the city!! The images of colorful leaves, the description of a the characters’ favorite Starbucks coffee, the cozy sweaters and soft scarves, and how Tom Hanks wants to buy Meg Ryan a bouquet of pencils for the start of school – I can’t get enough!!  Just thinking about it, I want to throw on my favorite sweats, grab my most fluffy blanket and curl up to escape into this funny story about finding love!

Truth be told I can’t really remember the first time I watched it, but there have been nothing short of a zillion viewings since then ! I love just drifting away from my living room and into  the city to watch this cute story play out! As the movie continues, you follow the main characters through changes in their life that run parallel to the change of seasons. You journey with them throughout the city as they travel the busy sidewalks and go about their regular routine. Its the simplicity of it that makes me feel as if I too am experiencing city life! I dare you to watch this movie and not want to travel to New York one cool October day, grab a latte, and a spot on a corner bench with a good book for just a moment to be part of the city.

As the weather turns a little cooler and we begin to have longer stretches indoors you may be looking for a good movie -so why not go retro?? Plus – who doesn’t love to reminisce about their own experience with AOL dial up or AIM! Happy Fall!!
