One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post! Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions even some health tricks. Really anything that we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!
Happy Friday guys! Well we are into December officially and although Christmas has most certainly taking over…. the other thing that is right around the corner is 2019! And if you are old school like this gal, then it is: NEW PLANNER SEASON! Yes, it’s true – I still use a paper planner. There is just something about written lists, crossing to dos off, and a space for mind dumping that a sense accomplishment and satisfaction can only come from pen and paper. Yes – I use my laptop and cell phone for a million and one things too …. but my planner is sorta my security blanket. So which planner am I most excited about for 2019?? Drum roll please…. the Emily Ley Simplified planner.

My needs include a big space for daily to dos, capturing appointments, and to keep the clutter out of my brain. For me when a to do comes to mind, I have to have a place to write it or I am convinced it will evaporate into thin air just as fast as it came. So even though I also really love the look of many planner styles or can appreciate a more compact feel for my purse – Emily Ley’s won out because it gives you a full page for each and every day. Plus it is SUPER SIMPLE. Obvious I know – but for years I tried to track daily health goals and water intake and errand lists and full time role duties, and blog projects…. and the more complicated I made my planners the more overwhelmed I felt and the less I referenced it. So last year I cleared the clutter and went for this planner that had plenty of space for each day – but not a list of 1 million things I have to do each and every day. Opening that planner to the new page, transferring over to dos that did not get done, identify new ones and then just diving into the day felt easy and calming, so I was sold.

The other part of this book that doesn’t necessarily live within the pages is its creator Emily. From her blog and You Tube videos and Instagram Lives I have learned great tools about being organized, offering grace to myself and the outside world, and the importance of being true to what matters, what really drives me: faith, passion, and my loved ones. Emily isn’t afraid to infuse her life into her work and to say no to the world’s version of success if it is better for her family. Following along her journey, enjoying her books, and making use of her planner I have found a better sense of peace this year – and not because this planner helped me achieve every goal and I suddenly become the most organized version of myself – but instead it encouraged turning each new day into another chance.
