These are a Few of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post!  Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions to health tricks. Really anything that I feel we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!

Today’s fav item is one of my wardrobe staples – I was going to say for spring transition – but the truth is I wear it ALL YEAR LONG! It just comes in extra handy as we start to feel the very beginning of spring peak out from the winter clouds. Got a dress that is a little bit more spring like that you want to wear, but its still pretty chilly in the morning? A green army jacket is the perfect outer layer!  Going for a simple look – white t-shirt and jeans – is spring ready for those cooler nights with a green army jacket added on top. It is just so simple and versatile I would name it a wardrobe must have for your closet!

My jacket that falls in this category is featured in these pictures. A darker green with a little bit of bedazzling. Yes – I have the bling version. If asked if that style is what I would recommend I would guess my answer would be no. I typically prefer more plain items, however this extra little bit of design has been one of the reasons I get the most compliments on this piece. Plus the bedazzle is in browns and silvers – colors you will see A LOT in my foot wear and jewelry, a perfect way to tie the outfit together. When wearing this outer layer I have worn it as just a jacket, as my main top (closed), over a sweater or blouse (open), and over my cool weather uniform: leggings, tunic, scarf and boots. It just works with everything!

As I said above, I am for sure a Pinterest queen…. in fact that may be where a lot of my styling efforts really show themselves – I can pin with the best of them! Its just putting the actual outfit together that is hard! If you took a look at my closet, or jewelry display, or my Evernote Notebook for my looks you would know that getting dressed is an important part of my day. But as my life takes different turns – a new role, a new shape, new personal style goals  – I spend a lot of time trying to determine what looks I really enjoy and what end up not being for me. So the truth is – I like the idea of elaborate and detailed wardrobing – but I flourish with the simple tried and trues of my closet and this jacket is absolutely one of them. Easy to style, goes with a ton of my other favorite pieces, and I always look/feel very pulled together.

If you are interested in adding this item to your spring looks – I would recommend checking out the Gap, Old Navy, and JCrew. They offer some great varieties at various price points for those jacket. Mine is about 4 years old and I don’t have a link for it …. but I bet if you search on Pinterest…. (also where to get the look inspiration for this item from the experts), I would run a quick “Army Green Jacket” search and you will see the possibilities are endless! Happy spring y’all!
