Happy Wednesday friends! Hope this week is treating you all well and you are finding some time between the hustle and bustle to rest, recharge, connect with your favs, and laugh!! Even though there are moments throughout the day that I have to remind myself that nothing lasts forever – a bad work day, a frustrating project, a trying person – truth of the matter is life is short and we should find ways to appreciate the day as much as we can.
For me that is often a reflection of the good things in life and so today I am catching up on a lot of those moments that should have been weekend wraps or found their way to other posts, but just never quite made it with a little life lately check-in.
Following our last Weekend That’s A Wrap Dan was still in patient…. so let’s start when we welcomed him home! As you know one of the best parts of that is always seeing Quinlan get so excited to see his Dad.

This also gave us a chance to finally celebrate Valentine’s Day. This year I tried to avoid the extra treats since Dan is supposed to be watching his sugars and Quinlan always has an upset tummy to correct following time without his whole family under one roof. So for Danny I got hand weights – I read how great they can be circulation, thinking more clearly, and getting your general muscle back up and running. All things Dan is needing these days- especially as his physical therapy is still not on the schedule (sigh) – but I don’t think pink 5lb weights were exactly what he had in mind. Luckily there was also a monkey balloon! For Quinlan a cute new toy in the shape of a love letter! Not that this even has to be said – but man, I love Target!

These days happy hour at our house is not really about cocktails and more about dessert. With Dan’s blood sugar restrictions, sweets are really meant to be left for special occasions and it can be so hard (especially after he was encouraged to eat sugars to gain weight before). So for a little happy hour we have been sharing a tall Carmel Frappachino every other week or so. Even in the cooler weather this are so tasty…. luckily we split it – so I figure that has to be keeping it closer to just being a cup of coffee – right? Not really…. but sure is yummy!

My niece Lola is officially on the move these days and that means one of her favorite “toys” is Quinlan. He is pretty good with her – the various smells and noises make him pretty curious – but this new found freedom of hers had him keeping his distance. Lola however – no fear. It is safe to say she is a true dog loving Heppes!!

Danny is our resident chef around here …. but post transplant that is a more rare find. Luckily while we were still admits our winter season he had a hankering for one of our fav home date nights – open face steak sandwiches!

For those of you who aren’t new around here… Sunday blues can be a really tough one for me. But I have to tell you on this particular Sunday I found the cure: have fun ALL SUNDAY LONG with good people!!
We started our Sunday off with brunch with the Villapandos!!

And then I had one of my favorite meals…. the kind where you share all your dreams and fears and questions and adult things with one of your past kiddo pals! How do you know we are such good friends? It could be the perfectly matching outfits….

Guess what?? We are starting to get to that time of year: Wedding season!! This spring the wedding that we are buzzing about is my college roommate Randi and her sweetheart of a husband to be Trevor! They are such a great couple and as you know we are especially grateful for their special friendship that provided the ultimate sacrifice: taking care of our trouble dog Quinlan during transplant!! They are just good people ya’ll!!

And we ended that fun day of wedded bliss with one of my favorite types of gatherings – a puppy party! Tara – another sweet college pal – brought her cutie Bailey and he and Randi’s lovable guy Snacks played and played and played while we enjoyed pizza and wine at Randi and Trevor’s place. Nights “out” have been so incredibly rare -getting together with these ladies that make me smile and their four-legged babies just filled my heart right to the top.
