One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post! Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions even some health tricks. Really anything that we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!
Happy Friday guys…. can you believe it, we are one week from Black Friday!??!?! Yes Thanksgiving is just about knocking on the door and that means decking the halls and shopping till you drop is right behind it. We don’t really take part in Black Friday or Cyber Monday too often, but I will say there is one place I almost always watch their deals and place an order: Alex and Ani bracelets.
If we were friends in the the real world, you would know that I jingle everywhere I go. Yes, just like a cat with a bell or my wiggly little Shiba dog, you can hear me coming with the shake of my wrist and the clinking and clanking of all my bangles. Unless we run into each other at the gym or I am running errands in pre-shower mode, my wrists are adorned with a little storybook in the form of Alex and Ani bracelets. I love how they are not just beautiful or appeal to my love of accessorizing, but they each have a special meaning and make me feel more like myself – stories in all!
On a regular day you will see me with 4 silver bracelets: B for Bessette from my sisters and mom; H for Heppes that I got for myself and each of my sisters and my mom last Christmas; breath of life symbol I got they year of transplant and we also gave to my mom and mother in law; and an N which Danny gave me this year after one of our dreams felt really lost – but is hopefully just delayed. Then when I am feeling like a need a little more…. I will wear my path of life – one that is silver and one that is gold – from my sisters and mom, my courage wheel from my sister Katy she gave me during a really bad hospitalization for Danny, and finally I have a beaded one for my days wearing lavender from my mother in law. So there you have it…. my lefthand wrist shares a whole life time in these little discs.
Of course I am a jewelry gal and love a little sparkle (you will also never find me – gym and all – without my wedding set and my Tiffany’s bracelet Danny gave me while dating) – but the true reason I love these bracelets are the thought that goes behind every gift. They aren’t crazy expensive, are simple for everyday or fancy enough for a special occasion, and they look great as a group or on their own…. but its the fact that every single one requires a specific purpose, something that says “this made me think of you” that has made me a fan for life.
As we prepare for the season of giving, I would encourage you to check out their website or even better if you have a store close by – pop in! One year for Christmas we kiddos gave my mom all of our initials, gold for the girls and silver for the boys (so she can wear them all together or split them up), and I have gifted each of my sisters a bracelet with their daughters first initial. For friends going through hard seasons, becoming new moms or needing to have a little bravery I have picked up bracelets. So if you have someone in mind I would say check these gifts out and keep an extra special eye during the holidays since they have had awesome deals (like buy one get one half off)!
When taking a look since they aren’t crazy expensive you may worry they are not sturdy enough….. and I am here to tell you that they are! I am TOUGH on my jewelry and they have mostly survived. But the ones that might take an extra hit – the store has repaired or replaced! It pains me a little to already be talking Christmas when I have yet to have a bite of turkey….. but the truth is these bracelets bring me joy and peace each and every day – not just during the season of giving – and I would recommend this little gift so the special ladies in your life can also wear the reminders of who they are, how far they have come, and the people God has placed in their life to love.
