These are a Few of My Favorite Things – Yoga with Adriene

What? I workout!
Shiba Winter 2014

One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post! Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions to health tricks. Really anything that I feel we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!

Happy Friday folks!! Hope everyone is enjoying all the holiday excitement that is brewing!! I know it can be stressful- but these are the moments we work all year long to enjoy. Whether it be a chance to sleep in, a time for family gatherings, or an opportunity to be home with your kiddos – time away from the routine is good for your soul and I am hoping you all find a way to take advantage. And if you are feeling a little bit of the stress compounding…. today’s Friday Favorite might just help you out: Yoga with Adriene.

As you may recall this past winter and spring I began taking yoga classes with one of my best gal pal’s Libby. Previously I had tried yoga at home with videos and found it a decent workout, but it was not until I started taking a class that I really fell in love. Not only was it great exercise, time with a good friend, but it also had a reflection competent. Each practice I would work my body out, but also find a way to release from my mind with a bit of a mental reset and a literal release of stress through my breath. It was true life saver for the season of life that I found myself in. As these things do…. life started changing and I was gravitating towards getting back outside to run. But with the return of the cool weather and busy time of year – holidays, work, family – I am now craving something I can do at my house that is a workout and a reset. That is when I found Adriene.

This yoga YouTube channel was just what the doctor ordered. Starting with the 30 day yoga challenge, I became familiar with Adriene’s style, humor, and workouts. You can select a video based on your available time, what you might want to workout, or even mood (if you need to be calm and chill out or maybe challenge yourself) and they are all great! Again, though my favorite part is that not only do my muscles feel a stretch and my abs a little challenged, but she includes a little reflection period to get buy mind back to neutral…. I LOVE IT!

So if you are looking to maybe add a little something to your exercise regiment, or maybe wanting to start an exercise habit, or just hoping for a few moments of peace and reflection – I encourage you to head over to her channel and try it out. Plus your routine can’t get messed up with holiday travel because if you have your cell phone, you can do yoga (although I do like my mat and good workout outfit too… 😃 ) !

Wishing you all a great weekend and thanks for reading!
Jackie
