These are a Few of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post!  Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions to health tricks. Really anything that I feel we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!

We are well into the summer season in our world – and now that we are back out of the hospital – it feels like we can really relax and enjoy it, so today I am talking my favorite summer accessory…. flip flops! Is there not a more perfect shoe? Truly…. I love flip flops – the cheaper plastic ones from Old Navy to the Tory Burch style (not that I have those, but I am certain would love them if my bank account would allow it)! They can be dressed up, dressed down, and go with everything! Summer is absolutely one of my favorite times of the year – and a huge part of that is being able to slip on flips flops and go!

This addiction runs deep, ya’ll! During our pre-canna classes  (the pre-martial counseling for Catholics) we had to take a test that shared all sorts of things about your personality. In the section that described your finances – Danny and I scored a little differently….Dan a saver and myself not so much. The priest asked if we were aware of this difference and although we knew about it, we had never really shared money before so had no reason to address it until now. When asked for an example of something I spend money on that does not make sense to Danny he said – flip flops. The priest was confused – “Aren’t those the shoes that cost like $10 bucks?” Danny’s response was “well, I have learned that no, they don’t all cost $10 bucks and apparently you need them in every color.” Of course this was not a fun segment of our counseling  – but I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I was sorta impressed that Danny had bothered to learn the details of my footwear philosophies!

So if you checked out my closet you would find all sorts of styles, looks, and price points…. but there are one pair of tried and true that I LOVE and couldn’t live without …. my Rainbows.
I have been a rainbow wearer for getting close to 15 years! My cousin Jaclyn in North Carolina introduced me when I was in high school (I think), when I was a Reefs girl. She of course was the older cooler cousin and my family vacationed at the NC Beaches, so I was picking up most of my summer style from her guidance and those beach stores. My reefs were tried and true and I still love them – but Rainbows were a little bit more delicate and had a better feel contorting to your feet.  Since that time I have owned three pairs and I am in love! I wear them ALL year round – to all occasions: the pool, work, weddings (if I can put them under a long dress), church, to walk the dog, to  venture out to the beach, when sight seeing, and even if we are walking on the trails (if its not too much climbing). They hold up well, keep their shape, and their fading of color is slow. These are my perfect shoe.

On my favorites post I always like to tell you where you can buy whatever I am chatting about. These sandals can be purchased online, at most beach stores, at a variety of shoe stores….but if your looking for the best place? I would go to where I got my last pair…. on my honeymoon….in Saint John’s at the little sun shop next to Beach Bar. That way you know for sure they are the perfect summertime shoe!

Thank you very much for reading and remember to make it a great day!
Jackie
