These Are A Few of My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things about being a blog follower is how the experience goes from just following along to eventually feeling like you are taking advice from a friend. As a result of my love for blogs, I have purchased clothes, tried hair styles, decorated mantles, read books, organized my office, discovered health tricks, and become inspired in countless ways! Reading about a solution that an everyday person, just like me, finds enriching to their lives has been really helpful – so here on HALF I thought I would get in on the info sharing action and include a weekly favorites post!  Each week I will share one of my favorites things! The topic areas will range from favorite clothes to organizing solutions to health tricks. Really anything that I feel we just can’t live without – or would really not want to – at the Bessette home and maybe you can find something you love too!

Last week went really fast on me and I missed being able to get my posts live- so we are playing a bit of catch up this week! The first of two favorite things coming your way is about Evernote, “a cross-platform, freemium app designed for note taking, organizing and archiving.” You all know my heart’s desire to be organized. I dream of a completely clear desk, perfectly maintained calendar, inbox that is emptied each day and a to do list that has more done then left to do. But the reality is that life happens and sometimes you have to just do life instead of organizing it. So the next best thing in my book is to be able to have access to anything you could need on the go! Evernote allows me to login and access my notes, lists, blog materials, office to dos, and contract work timelines from my laptop, phone, or even login in from any computer. I carry my whole desk with me to utilize at any given time  – it is fantastic!

Evernote was first introduced to me through my one of my best friends, Allie, whose sister Lauren not only swears by using it to declutter her life – but also wrote a book on how to best approach this tool. Just like most people, I downloaded Evernote and used it some – but last year I decided to really make a go of it and read a few books on how get the most out of my efforts. Here you will find those summaries, including Lauren’s book.

Well today I can’t say that I am in expert, but I do swear by this tool. Last week as we visited Fairfax transplant center I was able to both take notes and reference my notes from our Hopkin’s transplant meeting right from my phone. This allowed me to ask the same questions of both medical teams, keep the answers in the same place, and access them later as needed. There is piece of mind knowing that all my notes are saved there and I won’t risk misplacing a notebook or forgetting to pull the document I could need from my hard drive.

So if you are interested in a new organizational system, want to go paperless, or find that your life requires you to be on the go and you don’t want to have to carry luggage around with all your potential file needs – I would check out Evernote. It is free – unless you want to access specific tools – but in my years of using it the free version has worked out just beautifully. So why not give it a try! It can take some getting used to but if you feel it is a potential match then I would invest the time in reading those books and setting up the best notebook system for your needs. Happy organizing!

Thank you for reading and remember to make it a great day!
Jackie
