It’s FRIDAY!! Wahoo!!! And as we settle into another few days of life with our families …. I gotta wrap up a few previous weekend posts!
Whelp – and it is Sunday…. my post was drafted Friday and when I planned to get back to it for final edits and posting….. got a call from my sister Bridget. She had taken a high kick to the head at dance team practice and had a potential concussion. With my parents still out of town….. it was my sister Katy and I to the rescue! Katy picked her up from practice and I took her to the ER. As you all know I am an ER expert – so I grabbed my magazines, water, Purell and settled in for a wait. As soon as we sat down our names were called and we were on our way home within the hour! Bridge does seem to have a slight concussion – but we are hoping that fantastic ER visit that was over before we knew it, is a sign of how quick she will heal! Fingers crossed Bridge!!
Then Saturday I was sick and couch bound…. sigh…. so here we are wrapping up the previous posts… on Sunday. Let’s get to it!!
My last weekend wrap up post was all about Danny Boy’s birthday, but there is another special man in my life who has an October celebration, my Dad! So Halloween weekend we planned to celebrate with him. The weekend started off in cleaning mode. Like REAL cleaning mode. Being away the weekend before and being birthday fun focused the weekend before that… my kitchen table looked like the bargain asile at Target: full of STUFF!
Dan and I spent Friday night into Saturday afternoon cleaning. Picking up, hanging up, reorganization – a trip to Target, a trip to Homegoods…. and we were officially welcoming in Fall to our home! Which came at the perfect time – since it was Halloween that night! With only a four-legged baby to dress – we get pretty into it with him!
Quinlan – he is not that into it.
After relaxing in our newly pumpkin spiced space and greeting all the trick or treaters, we headed over to see the newest resident of Ashburn at my parents, Ganmommy. She is officially VA settled folks and although she is a little uncertain – after years of taking care of herself – at 92 we have all decided it is time to have her be with family full time. We hope to take pressure off of the cooking, cleaning, remembering meds, errands etc – while also giving her some extra TLC in the winter months. My Ganmommy is an outdoor lady for sure so winter months forcing her inside can be long. It will be a transition – that we are all helping with (Danny and I have already been by a dozen times) – but I feel blessed to have that time with her, and it feels especially perfect that God brought us back to my hometown when choosing our new spot so we can also take advantage of this time, while helping support my parents.
Sunday we woke up and had planned to do a little school with Quinlan’s trainer, but he called out sick. So instead we hung around doing house work and contract work in anticipation of that night’s party plans for Dad’s birthday – Top Golf! After Sunday evening mass we all headed over there to grab our little spot, order our brews and snacks, and play ball! Top Golf is sorta like bowling – but with Golf. You can play in teams or each man for himself, taking turns trying to get your shots into different targets. I am no golfer, but it is a blast – only made better with crisp fall air and time with family.
And I think Ganmommy was especially happy to be a Va resident for this activity.
Even my aunt Tama who was in town to help Ganmommy get settled, got in on the action. We had a great time and really enjoyed toasting Happy Birthday to Big Jer!
The week after that fall weekend – was our weird week – but thankfully before we knew it, another weekend was here!
That Friday I spent hanging with my sister Bridget and Ganmommy while my parents were out at dinner. As Ganmommy still gets settled in, it is nice to have extra hands around to help – and I never turn down a chance to hang out with one of my sisters, eating take out and watching a movie. We watched Inside Out. It was a movie Danny and I actually watched in the theatre and really enjoyed and this time Bridget really liked it too. As you settle into the cozy season, check it out for a movie night at home – I am sure you will enjoy!
Saturday was full of errands and adult life, with Bridget’s last football game sprinkled in! It has been such a treat to watch her dance for 4 years at O’Connell and I am so glad to have been a part of these memories. Congratulations Bridget – we are so proud of you!
Sunday was family picture day! I love, love, love family pictures. I always have for some reason. As a kid one of my favorite Christmas things was opening Christmas cards and seeing what pictures families had selected to say “Merry Christmas”,or how kids had grown. I just love that it is a snapshot in the story of a family growing, learning, changing…. and since we have not taken any since the spring we added Q to our family, we were due!
Luckily we have been able to save a few bucks by having my sister just use my Dad’s great camera to captures some shots.
I am thrilled to report it was a great success! Thank you Bridget and my boys for helping to make something that means so much to me happen. I dream of these photos filling the walls with moments of the Bessette Family for years to come!
After all of our picture fun both the boys were tuckered out. Poor Q had his reschedule of his trainer early that morning. It had gone well but really wore him out, on top of his tummy issues he has been having – he was exhausted. Danny had been such a trooper for a few days with housework, contract work, puppy training, and life in general that once Sunday afternoon hit – he was exausted. So it was a quiet night in our house, but that was just perfect as I got ready for the week ahead AND watched You’ve Got Mail!
The absolute perfect movie to watch before spending week of fall in New York. Our Macy’s Day Count Down is ON!
Well there you have it people – some weekends al la Bessette! Nothing too glamorous, but we have had fun. And I hope to recap this past weekend as well as a whole bunch of other posts expected for this week. We are really going for broke over here these days! Trying to hit it out of the park with the blog, our house projects, our family time, my full time roll, and in our spare time a little bit of some side businesses…. wish us luck!!! And stay tuned as I hope to especially rock out here on the blog.
Happy Sunday night friends!
Thank you for reading and remember to make it a great day!
